Hey. Sorry about the wait of a new post. It has been pretty tough for us with the family crisis occuring.
My family and I just finished the HBO film Temple Grandin, starring Claire Danes. It's a new film talking about an autistic woman named Temple Grandin and her life with autism at a time when it was barely known.
As I watched the film, I realized that Temple was similar to my autism in certain ways. She looks at things carefully and pictures everything that she sees in her head. Then she reconstructs them in the way she sees them. This is similarity between us because when I look at things in front of me, I redesign them in a creative way.
Temple, has panic attacks at certain times, and invents a hug machine to calm her down so she can be more sociable. The invention is based on the same thing used for cows to "make them gentle". I also tend to get nervous at times and either listen to soft music to calm myself down or find a quiet space to stay in until I am chilled out.
She also didn't speak a word until she was four and I didn't speak my first words until I was five. Temple inspires me in her life because her mother helps her throughout everything she goes through and my mom does the same for me, my brother and the world of autism.
Please watch the film with your family. It is an amazing story.
Have a happy and safe week.
